On Sunday the disinfected premises were
aerated and ventilated, after a careful examination No trace whatever of damage was noticed, in spite of the strong percentage of gas obtained by the employment of the two machines, and the great con- densation which was produced by the opening of the windows in damp and cold weather.
On Monday, the 11th, the machine "D" was
raised adjusted at 8 o'clock, the piping by means of tackle to the uppermost of the dormitories at half-past nine, and the operation began at 10 o'clock. At half-past twelve, the dormitory and the three isola- tion rooms were filled with gas, registering 9% at the control pump, while at the opening of the ventilator it registered 13 by the burette. At one o'clock the lowering of the discharge pipes to the lower floor was completed, the pipes crossing the principal room of the infirmary, and three rooms adjoining were successively fumigated. At three o'clock the operation was entirely finished, the piping lowered without accident, the machine cleaned and all the accessories put in order. At half-past three the machine "D" was removed from the College after three days' work, representing 20 hours of regular working.
CONCLUSIONS:.
The result of the complicated operations carried out at the College of Vaugirard under diffi- cult conditions, in bad weather, has proved to us
